Stump Grinding
A stump left in the ground isn't just an eyesore. It's a tripping hazard, a mowing obstacle, and in South Florida, an open invitation for termites, ants, and fungus — often just feet from your house. Many stumps keep sending up new shoots for years after the tree is cut. Frank Perkins Tree Experts provides professional stump grinding from West Palm Beach through Fort Lauderdale to Miami: fast, clean, and ground below grade so the spot is genuinely usable again. What the service includes. We grind the stump and the major surface roots down below the soil line — typically 6 to 12 inches, deeper if you're planning to replant or build over the spot. Surface roots snaking across the lawn get ground out too. When we're done, we backfill the hole with the grindings or haul the mulch away on request, and the work area is cleaned up completely. Our self-propelled grinding equipment fits through standard backyard gates, so stumps behind the house aren't a problem. Most residential stumps take under an hour, and we can knock out multiple stumps in a single visit — ask about multi-stump pricing.
When to call. The usual reasons: a tree came down years ago and the stump never got dealt with; you're prepping the yard for new sod, landscaping, a fence line, or a pool; there's termite or ant activity around an old stump near the house; or you're selling and cleaning up curb appeal. And if we're removing a tree for you, have us quote the grind at the same time — bundling both in one visit is cheaper than scheduling them separately.
